Sara Dowling Trio: Female Jazz Greats

L'Aubette Live

Sara Dowling singing

Sara Dowling and her trio trio take you back to the smoke-filled clubs of the Jazz Age.

Deeply inspired by the repertoire of the American Songbook, Sara Dowling and her trio present a tribute to the great jazz singers of the 1920s and 1930s: Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Betty Carter and more.  Gifted with immensely emotional vocals, Sara’s influences are wide and far-reaching. She often guests with Ronnie Scott’s All Star Band and she was voted Best Vocalist for the British Jazz Awards 2019.

Every Thu–Sat evening throughout Into the Night, the galleries will come to life with performance in the exhibition’s recreation of Strasbourg’s iconic L’Aubette (1928), focusing on the vitality and diversity of jazz as performed across the globe. The evenings are co-curated with Mark Kavuma, a prominent young trumpet player on the British jazz scene.

Classic cocktails will also be served in the adjoining recreation of Vienna’s jewel-like Cabaret Fledermaus bar.

The performance starts at 7pm and is free with an Into the Night exhibition ticket.

It finishes at approximately 8pm and the gallery closes at 9pm.

Please note that performances have limited capacity, so we would advise arriving early.
