Cinema 1 at the Barbican

The best international new releases, talks with filmmakers, major curated seasons and leads in the presentation of the performing arts on screen.

We invest in the artists of today and tomorrow creating a platform for independent directors and working with a variety of international film festivals and arts partners. We showcase the work of young programmers and filmmakers and collaborate with the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

Through our activities we hope to inspire more people to discover and love the arts. We programme free offsite events in east London, offer reduced price tickets to 16-25 year olds through the Young Barbican membership scheme and special student ticket prices.

We have welcomed families for over 30 years to Family Film Club, our Saturday morning screenings, and present regular Parent & Baby screenings of the best new release titles.

Thank you for considering us for your cinema event.

Our programme is very busy all year-round and any cinema events are confirmed well in advance (at least 3 months ahead of the proposed screening date). We therefore have very limited capacity for externally curated events and these should be submitted in good time.

Complete the following sections, providing as much information as you can.

Information about your event

Has the film / have any of the films in your event shown in the UK before?
Is your event time sensitive?
Is this a premiere?
Tell us a bit about yourself. Do you work in film? What cinema curatorial experience do you have? If you have any social media channels relevant to film programming, let us know

Please note we very rarely show films under 60 minutes, unless they are part of a pre-curated shorts programme.

If we are interested in taking your proposal further, we will let you know within 3 weeks of submission of this form. If you have not received a response within this time, we will not be taking the proposal further on this occasion – owing to the high number of proposals we receive, we will be unable to provide feedback
