Alcina

by Handel

Lion's head on a black background

A charming sorceress. A dashing knight. A daring fiancée.

Enter Alcina’s mystical island, its shores a trap for unsuspecting men. The beautiful enchantress casts spells to make men love her - then cruelly discards them,  transforming them into wild creatures or trees or rocks. Alcina herself is tested to the limit when she falls in love with the knight Ruggiero. Under Alcina's spell, Ruggiero has forgotten his fiancée, who arrives on the island determined to rescue her beloved. Will true or fake love win?
