Pekka Kuusisto/Norwegian Chamber Orchestra

Milton Court Artist-in-Residence

A portrait of the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra clutching their instruments

The one-of-a-kind violinist leads the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra in music from J S Bach to Missy Mazzoli: ‘Brooklyn’s post-millennial Mozart’ (Time Out New York).

Pekka Kuusisto is an artist who’s as energised by folk music and disco as he is by Bach, so it’s not about being in the spotlight: it’s about ‘the inner life - all the connections happening within the ensemble’. With collaborators this good, everything you hear – the dayglo colours and glimmering string-writing of Andrea Tarrodi; the poetic resonances of Missy Mazzoli; or the UK premiere of Shrink, the concerto that Nico Muhly wrote specially for Kuusisto – has the potential to start a conversation.

This performance will end at approximately 9.15pm, including a 20 minute interval.
