LA Phil New Music Group: Late-night Green Umbrella concert

Thomas Adès at 50

Thomas Ades conducting vigorously

Join us as we take the pulse of musical modernism in the UK in a free showcase of cutting-edge compositions from classical music’s coalface.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic is a byword for orchestral innovation, and its Green Umbrella is a new music series with a striking difference: a place where cultures meet, interact, and sometimes clash, but never leave each other unmoved. And there could be no-one better to guide us through a special British edition than Thomas Adès: a man with an intimate knowledge of the incredible richness of the new music scene and a composer who’s no stranger to pushing classical music in unexpected and fascinating new directions.

Conducting the LA Phil New Music Group in his personally curated programme, Adès celebrates heroes old and new, matching the resonant, utterly individual voice of the Viennese-born Erika Fox with the bold sonorities of a whole new generation of European composers.

End-time to be announced nearer the event.
