Work with artist educator Gwen Ramsay to get inspired by Lee Krasner’s life and work. Use fabric pens, textiles and more to become an artist and make your own abstract art aprons. You can also create a collaborative studio of colour using wool and fabric to bring to life a giant 3D structure.
 

Feminist Library Crafternoon
Badge, zine and poetry making
Free, drop-in throughout the day

Join Feminist Library artists Eva Megias, Maria DePaula-Vazquez and Emma Thatcher for a series of drop-in workshops on badge, zine and poetry making. Feel inspired by empowering materials from the Feminist Library archive, and the work and words of Lee Krasner herself, while having fun together. 

Badge: Come & create your own badges inspired by the words of famous women artists and authors!
Zine: Create a mini-zine on the theme ‘children to the front’ using drawings, stickers, and collage.
Poetry: Make ‘cut-up’ poems using feminist materials to express yourself.

The Feminist Library is an autonomous feminist community space that is home to a unique collection of feminist literature and Women’s Liberation Movement materials supporting research, activism and community projects. The Library provides an intersectional non-sectarian space for the exploration of feminism through conversation, study, and events. They are trans-inclusive and welcome people of all genders.
 

The Drawing Lab
Free, drop-in throughout the day

Work with artist educator Heather Whitt to create a giant collaborative art piece by working together to create large-scale drawing tools to fill the canvas. Taking inspiration from Krasner’s inventive use of household objects such as brooms, which she used to paint her largest pieces such as ‘Polar Stampede’, your challenge will be to explore how we can draw - BIG! Will you create a hand-held drawing device? Will it be attached to a head, a foot or an elbow? Do you use it standing up, or laying down, or do you need multiple families members to manoeuvre it? Part of the fun will be capturing photos of family members using the strange devices you have created together! 
 

Eleven Ways: Still life, abstraction and recycled collage
Free, drop-in throughout the day

Join artist Thomas Whittle on the Sculpture Court to create your own still-life artworks. Using plants, props, recycled materials and more, make observational artworks using charcoal, ink and paint. You will be inspired to use materials in an expressive way looking at shape, form and negative space, with a focus on abstract composition.
