Chakardar: Power of Tabla

Chakardar tabla players

Experience a high-energy and explosive showcase from the Chakardar tabla players.

Allow yourself to be taken in by the dexterous finger work and musical language of the tabla – India’s most iconic percussion instrument which has infiltrated musical genres worldwide. The grooves and beats in this performance are choreographed by Harkirat Rayatt, son in law of Bhai Gurmit Singh Ji Virdee, in whose memory Darbar Festival was founded.

Chakardar is Europe’s leading promoter of Indian percussion and has an enviable reputation for producing some of the finest tabla players in the UK through its workshops and annual summer school.

This performance will begin promptly at the advertised start time and is expected to finish by 6pm – subject to change.

Presented by Darbar in partnership with Barbican
