Nathalie Stutzmann: The Power of Love

The French mezzo explores the twin worlds of French and German song: miniature universes of concentrated emotion, where not a note goes to waste.

Nature runs like a stream through the world of German romantic song, and the joys of love are only ever one chord away from the agony of loss. The songs of Chausson, Debussy and Fauré breathe a very different air, and Nathalie Stutzmann savours the contrast.

‘We have to have an idea of how we feel; we have to put all our emotions, our experience of life in this music’ says Stutzmann, and together with pianist Inger Södergren she’s assembled a sequence of songs that thrive on that approach, whether in the direct lyricism of Schubert or the quiet ecstasies of Debussy and Fauré. It all adds up to an exquisite evening of song, from artists of unique insight and experience.

End-time to be announced nearer the event.
