Wang/Capuçon/Ottensamer Trio

An playful image of Yuja sitting at her piano, facing the camera

The music of friends – Yuja Wang joins regular collaborators Gautier Capuçon and Andreas Ottensamer for a chamber concert with a dazzling difference.

These three players have serious form together. ‘An instinctive musical partnership, liquidly expressive, intoxicating’, wrote The Scotsman when Wang played with clarinettist Andreas Ottensamer, while simply ‘electric’ was how The Guardian described her performance with cellist Gautier Capuçon. All together, they’ve been called a super-trio.

In reality, though, that doesn’t begin to do them justice, and all three players know that these darkly romantic trios by Brahms and his Viennese follower Alexander von Zemlinsky demand infinitely more than just world-class virtuosity. It’s about the poetry, the emotion, and the instinctive, communicative bond between three great artists who simply love making music together. The wonderful thing is that we get to listen in.

End-time to be announced nearer the event.
