Sometimes a singer steps onto the stage offering something new, breaking down barriers of genre, time and music for a transcendent experience. Davóne Tines is one such singer.

Tines’s programme speaks from the heart. Childhood memories of liturgical services that combined many different musical styles and genres feed his desire to simply share the music that’s important to him. Taking Caroline Shaw’s miniature Mass as his starting point, Tines interweaves Shaw’s movements with snapshots from the Western European canon, African American spirituals, and 21st-century traditions to create a programme quite unlike any other.

Determined to re-write the future of classical music, Tines is a ‘path-breaking artist at the intersection of many histories, cultures and aesthetics’ (TIME Magazine). He has something to say. Our feeling is, if you’re not here to hear it, you’ll wish you had been.
