Omara Portuondo

Omara Es Cuba – El Último Beso

Omara Portuondo in front of a painting of the Cuban flag

The multi-talented singer from Buena Vista Social Club is joined by Roberto Fonseca to bring cubanía to life with an evening of expressive music, mixing traditional bolero with jazz and blues.

With an artistic career spanning decades, Omara Portuondo is renowned for popularising Cuban music across the world. As part of the her El Último Beso tour, Portuondo will showcase some of her finest musical work. Having originally carved a career as an actor in 1950’s Havana, Portuondo’s live show is inspired by expression. Her gestures match her vast vocal range, inherited from the ‘filin’ way of singing which mixes traditional bolero with American-influenced blues.

A seminal member of the Havana music scene, Portuondo has collaborated with some of the most important Cuban musicians to date, including Julio Gutiérrez and Chucho Valdés. She remains a figurehead of the local Havana music scene and tonight she is joined by Roerto Fonseca on piano, a contemporary pioneer of Latin jazz.
