Rameau, Purcell & Handel

LSO Chamber Orchestra/Emmanuelle Haïm

Emmanuelle Haïm

Rich storytelling, high drama and bold ideas. Be drawn into magnificent operatic worlds with music from the towering giants of the Baroque, conducted by Emmanuelle Haïm.

Inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Purcell’s The Fairy Queen translates the magic of the source material into a mischievous and light-hearted masque, combining mystery and intrigue with passionate romance. The light, catchy melodies continue with Handel’s jauntily regal Water Music. Enchanting tales of love and warfare follow, with music from Rameau’s mythic, heroic and tragic operas Castor and Pollux and Dardanus.
