Miscarriage

Fertility Fest

Painting

More common than you might think, less talked about than it should be. A whole evening dedicated to bringing miscarriage out of the shadows.

Julia Bueno will be talking about her new book, The Brink of Being, published by Virago in May.

Visual artist Foz Foster is determined to challenge the perception that miscarriage only happens to women. He will be talking about his extensive body of work Labour of Love celebrating the three children he lost.

Theatre company Open Sky present a scene from their new show Cold. When a couple step out of a hospital waiting room they find themselves lost in a snowbound wood. Will they ever find their way back home? A story of a pregnancy that doesn’t go as planned.

After the performance, the artists will be joined on stage for a Q&A session with Ruth Bender Atik, National Director of The Miscarriage Association and David Ogutu, Medical Director of Herts & Essex Fertility Clinic. Chaired by Kate Brian.

Duration: 2 hours

Produced in association with the Miscarriage Association

Key information

We want Fertility Fest to be as inclusive as possible and this means being sensitive to people with and without children. We are conscious that some people who are struggling to conceive or are involuntarily childless find it difficult to be around children. But we are equally conscious that there are people who have been on a long and complex journey to conceive who want to come to the festival and might not have childcare support. We don’t want anyone to feel excluded.

With this in mind, we therefore ask that if you would like to or need to bring children / babes in arms to the event or you find it particularly difficult to be around children then please contact us at [email protected] ahead for a chat about how to give you the best experience on the day and make sure we can positively address all people’s feelings and needs.
