Jamila Gavin Presents: Arrietty (U)

Framed Film Club

An image from the film Arrietty

This month, author Jamila Gavin (Coram Boy, Grandpa Chatterji) has taken over Framed Film Club by choosing some of her favourite children’s classics for us to screen.

Adapted from the classic children's novel The Borrowers, this beautiful animation is exquisitely detailed and utterly enchanting.

Miniature Arietty and her family live under the floorboards of an ordinary house in the Toyko suburbs, borrowing everything they need from their human landlords. Life is beautifully simple for them until a chance encounter between Arietty and a young boy (the nephew of the human hosts) threatens disastrous consequences.
