Songwriter Gabriel Kahane takes an unflinching look at America in the wake of the 2016 presidential election, performing songs from his new album Book of Travelers as well as his back catalogue.

Kahane woke up on 7 November 2016, the day after the American Presidential election and boarded a train at Penn Station, traveling 8,980 miles around the continental US talking to strangers. He presents his findings as a musical travelogue, turning everyday stories into an exquisitely crafted collection of songs – an eloquent, defiant, and hopeful portrait of contemporary America.

Ranging from indie pop, to alternative folk, to chamber music, Kahane’s music is reflective of an artist used to working in many modes – he’s collaborated with artists such as Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird, and Paul Simon, alongside prestigious commissions for Brooklyn Academy of Music, Carnegie Hall and, recently, Broadway, with an original score for Kenneth Lonergan’s The Waverly Gallery.
