Electronic musician Clark provides a new live soundtrack for Stan Brakhage’s avant-garde short film series Dog Star Man, as part of the film programme for Sounds and Visions.

Axe in hand, a bearded woodsman (played by the filmmaker himself) and his dog climb a snow-tipped mountain to fell a tree. As he makes his ascent, he experiences mysterious visions – from blood-filled capillaries to celestial bodies.
 
It’s compelling and unorthodox – making Clark its ideal match. His recordings for Warp Records are wide ranging, distinctive and infectious. For this specially commissioned live score, he manipulates the sound of his cello playing, looping and superimposing synthesizers as deftly as Brakhage splices his film.
