Jean-Luc Ponty, Biréli Lagrène and Kyle Eastwood

Jean-Luc Ponty artwork

The pioneer of Jazz violin makes a rare UK appearance, alongside European guitar hero Biréli Lagrène and bassist Kyle Eastwood.

This new adventure celebrates the reunion of three masters of their respective instruments, recalling Ponty's Rite of Strings project of the 1990s but with a dynamic character of its very own – the virtuoso phrasing of each musician delivering unexpected colours and establishing new standards for the string trio.

Jean-Luc Ponty's long career has encompassed landmark collaborations with Frank Zappa and Mahavishnu era John McLaughlin, as well as acclaimed output with his own hugely popular bands. Lagrène's Django Reinhardt-indebted playing techinque is balanced by a freely swinging take on the language of Bebop, and with Eastwood – who composed the music for many of his father Clint’s films – they play acoustic Jazz of the very highest order, infused with an energy derived from their individual forays into Electric Jazz and Fusion.
