Prototypes in Public

The Bartlett Interactive Architecture Lab

An image of a lamp inside a perspex cube casting florescent light over the room

Drop in and explore the experimental work of University College London students who consider how the arts centre of the future might look and feel.

Exploring spatial interaction with emergent forms of artificial life and intelligence, three new experimental pieces are presented across three days by the Interactive Architecture Lab from the Bartlett School of Architecture.

Monozygotic by Quy Phung Ta and Reuben Jacob

Human motion through the Barbican’s foyers triggers changes in a distributed field of LED screens visualising a cellular automata algorithm.

The Entangled Eye by Anne Heloise Dautel, Irem Bugdayci and Robert Wuss

An exploration of visual perception through robotic motion. Audience’s attention dictates the motion of two whimsical machines that only move when not been looked at.

CuGo by Kongpyung Moon and Peng Gao

A board game made up of autonomous modular reconfiguring robots that invite the public to measure their own intelligence through playful collaboration.

The work presented is by students of the Interactive Architecture Lab’s Masters in Design for Performance & Interaction. This “Prototypes in Public” presentation, acts as a test bed for work in progress helping students engage with audiences and gain feedback before they enter into their final term of study.
