Designing Futures

Imagining the future of humanitarian aid

panel discussion quicksand

This panel discussion will explore views on international, interdisciplinary working, how design research can help solve tomorrow's problems and the future of humanitarian work.

Following the HUM.2035 pop up exhibit, which explores the future of humanitarian crises, this event brings together researchers, designers and humanitarian sector experts to discuss the role of design fiction in creating dialogue around the future of humanitarian work.

What transformations occur when new technologies and dynamic social and economic forces shift humanitarian work in India? What will be the nature of humanitarian work in the future, who will lead on this and what skills will be required of them? You will hear an introduction to the speculative worlds brought to life in the HUM.2035 exhibition highlighting the role of design research and design fiction tools. This event brings together design and humanitarian perspectives to collaboratively understand and address humanitarian relief challenges of the future.

This event is in collaboration with the HUM.2035 residency inside the Life Rewired Hub.
