Small and tall, we welcome all
From adventures you can take part in – to those you can watch on stage or on screen, the Barbican and it’s surrounding attractions offer a variety of events for all.

Whether you are trying to keep the kids busy for a low cost rainy afternoon, or planning something for a special treat, there’s something to satisfy your inner child as well as the smaller ones in the family.

And when you come to visit, why not tell us about your day at the Barbican? Share your photos and drawings on Twitter @BarbicanCentre.

We have two art galleries so there is lots on for you to explore. Depending on the show in the main gallery we’ll often have family workshops and free family activity sheets too so you can really get involved and find out more about the work. The Curve (Level 0) is free and exhibits specially commissioned work from new artists. Barbican Art Gallery (Level 3) is free for under 12s and exhibits work by leading international figures throughout the year.

Framed Film Club
Our exciting year-round programme for families serves up the most recent animated and live-action films, as well as family classics every Saturday morning. Plus we host a special themed workshop on the last Saturday of every month.

Dance, act, write, create and play in our inspirational workshops with international artists.

Family Concerts
Once a term, The London Symphony Orchestra presents a family concert featuring the full London Symphony Orchestra with animators, workshops and the chance to join in with your own instrument or sing-along.

The BBC Symphony Orchestra’s season includes specially-selected BBC SO Plus Family concerts across the season, which offer families a chance to hear first-rate classical music for just £5 a seat plus booking fee, introduced by a friendly, interactive workshop.

Explore the Barbican building
With free Wi-Fi and great coffee, parents and children love our open foyer spaces. Bring your family and take part in our free D.I.Y Big Barbican Adventure.

On the third floor, discover our hidden tropical oasis. Venture into the second biggest Conservatory in London, home to finches, quails, exotic fish and over 2,000 species of tropical plants and trees.

Did you know that we also have our very own lake and waterfall? See if you can spot our families of moorhens and coots!
