Ballet Black Open Rehearsal: Young Barbican

seven dancers are in a line in serveal balletic poses. The positions range from low to the ground, to the dancer at the back of the line in a jump.

Ballet Black present a snippet from The Waiting Game in rehearsal, an exciting and energetic work choreographed by Mthuthuzeli November.

In this open rehearsal, Mthuthuzeli November and Cassa Pancho will also give an exclusive insight into the rehearsal process and answer questions from the audience. The rehearsal lasts approximately 1 hour including a 30 min Q&A.

British-Trinidadian Artistic Director Cassa Pancho has attracted a loyal following for her classically trained troupe, reinvigorating ballet with an indomitable energy and inspired versatility as well as promoting original work. Ballet Black, a company for international dancers of black and Asian descent, collaborates with two choreographers to bring a double bill full of lyrical contrasts and beautiful movement to the Barbican Theatre in March.

The Waiting Game is about the meaning of life, infused with a dynamic soundtrack featuring the company dancers' voices. Ballet Black’s upcoming Double Bill in March also includes Then Or Now, by the Royal Ballet’s Olivier-Award winning choreographer Will Tuckett, blending classical ballet, music and the poetry of Adrienne Rich. Ballet Black will be at the Barbican performing their Double Bill from Thursday 26—Sunday 29 March.
