Tristan and Isolde Act Two

Conductor Sir Simon Rattle

The greatest love story in all opera: Stuart Skelton and Nina Stemme are Tristan and Isolde, as Sir Simon Rattle conducts the complete second act of Wagner’s timeless tragedy.

Darkness falls, and love finds a way. In Act II of Tristan und Isolde, the summer night itself seems to shimmer with emotion, as the two lovers consummate their desire beneath a canopy of stars. Yet treachery hides in the shadows, and with a cast this good the human tragedy will be as overwhelming as Wagner’s world-changing music.

If you’re already a Wagnerite, the names Nina Stemme and Stuart Skelton should speak for themselves. Add Jamie Barton as Isolde’s devoted friend Brangaene and Stephen MiIling as King Marke, and it’s no exaggeration to call this a world-class cast. If you’re not, there’s no more intoxicating entry point into Wagner’s world than this glowing portrayal of two people in a broken world, united – and redeemed – by a love that’s stronger than death.

The performance is expected to last around 2 hours.
