A New Kind of Wildnerness +Recorded Q&A (12A)

This Sundance-selected documentary follows the Payne family, living wild and free in Norway, until tragedy strikes and they must revaluate their way of life.

Maria and Nik, along with their four children, Ulv, Falk, Freja, and Ronja, are self-sufficient. They practice home-schooling and strive for a closely-knit family dynamic with a focus on living in harmony with nature.

However, when tragedy strikes the family, it upends their idyllic world and forces them to forge a new path into modern society.

Silje Evensmo Jacobsen won the World Cinema Documentary Grand Jury Prize at Sundance 2024 for the film, which captures the vulnerability and humanity of this family and their story
