Sarah Emily Porter Solo Show: The Barbican Reimagined

A Barbican Library Foyer Exhibition

An image showing a piece of wall artwork by Sarah Emily Porter

Explore the inner workings of Sarah Emily Porter’s Art Studio at the Barbican Library.

View a collection of paintings, sculptures and furniture, and find out how Porter drips, pours and manipulates paint using her bespoke painting mechanism.  Applying carefully mapped architectural geometries to reflect the Barbican’s iconic brutalist architecture, she invites audiences to reconsider their relationship with the built environment.  Furthermore, the movement and rhythm of the paint as it ebbs and flows across the canvas evokes the experiences tied to the Barbican’s performative and community spaces, bringing into play a clear sense of energy.  Please note that the library is closed on Sundays.
