The Eight Mountains (12A)

Still from The Eight Mountains

Two young boys become men in the all-encompassing alpine mountains of Italy. This Cannes Jury Prize winner is a tale of roots – of home, of self, and of lifelong friendship.

The Eight Mountains follows the lives of two young boys as they grow up - and away from - their home in the isolated Italian Alps.

Pietro and Bruno are inseparable as boys, but as time goes on, life pulls them apart and brings them together again. Set over four decades, this is a tale of friendship, of the meaning of home, and the values of life.

Based on the best-selling novel by Paolo Cognetti, and co-directed by Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch, The Eight Mountains is a patiently intimate film that will enrapture you in its surroundings, both through the landscape and the emotional hills the men navigate.
