Piano Day 2023

Piano Day 2023

Demonstrating the incredible diversity and malleability of the piano, our Piano Day takeover is back on level G, with and afternoon of free performances from a selection of talented pianists.

We would like to invite you to join us and celebrate. Founded in 2015 by Nils Frahm, Piano Day is an annual worldwide event to raise the profile of the piano, inspire more people to play the piano and encourage piano playing in public spaces. Piano Day takes place on the 88th day of the year, celebrating the number of keys on the instrument.

This event is free and welcome to all.

Produced by the Barbican in association with Manners McDade

‘Why does the world need a Piano Day? Because it doesn’t hurt to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers and most important, the listener.‘
Nils Frahm
