Nonclassical

A violin hangs from a tree trunk

Explore our Conservatory in an immersive sound experience reflecting on our relationship with nature at a time of climate crisis.

Abundant greenery and trickling water feature alongside concrete, steel and glass in a programme challenging us to listen, curated by Nonclassical. Our Conservatory plays host to performances from Quinta, Laura Moody, Abstruckt, Yshani PerinpanayagamKatherine TinkerThanos Polymeneas-LiontirisLinda JankowskaMatthew BourneMarcus Vergette and the London Triangle Orchestra, each presenting creative responses to the climate emergency.

Journey through the greenhouse’s tropics as unconventional instruments take centre stage; from single use plastic and aeolian harps played by the wind to triangles made from the steel skeleton of the Barbican. That’s all in a day’s work for Nonclassical, who have without a doubt become ‘an indispensable part of the classical music scene’ (The Telegraph).

Each performance will run for approximately two hours
