Join British-Iranian artist Soheila Sokhanvari as she discusses her new exhibition, Rebel Rebel, with writer and artist Ben Platts-Mills.
British-Iranian artist Soheila Sokhanvari sits down with writer and artist Ben Platts-Mills to discuss Rebel Rebel, an inspiring new exhibition celebrating and commemorating feminist icons from pre-revolutionary Iran.
Rebel Rebel sees the Curve transformed into a devotional space, populated with exquisite miniature portraits of glamorous cultural figures from Iran. The exhibition spotlights the rarely told histories of these women, who pursued creative careers in a culture enamoured with Western style but not its freedoms.
The immersive space will be hand-painted floor to ceiling with geometric patterns based on traditional Islamic design.
Sokhanvari will be joined in conversation with Ben Platts-Mills, a writer and artist whose work investigates power, reasoning, and vulnerability.
Tickets are free but seating will be allocated on a first come first served basis and will be subject to availability.

We’ve plenty of places for you to relax and replenish, from coffee and cake to wood-fired pizzas and full pre-theatre menus
Assistance dogs are welcome. If you prefer, you may leave your dog with a member of the gallery staff during your visit.

Enhanced security measures are currently in place at the Barbican.
As part of these measures only one reasonably-sized bag (no larger than 32cm L x 18cm W x 22cm H) per person may be taken inside our venues and all bags may be searched by a member of our team.
We ask that, where possible, visitors avoid bringing large bags to the Centre. If you do need to check bags into our free cloakrooms, we suggest arriving early. All bags deposited will be subject to search and random bag searches are also in operation.
