The influential English folksinger debuts her brilliant new record Heart’s Ease, alongside classic songs from her back catalogue.
Accompanied by strummed guitar or strings, Shirley Collins’s voice reflects the rich heritage of folk music, spinning stories of ocean voyages, pastoral life and ancient folk tales – traditional-style songs of rural England. Collins performs alongside her six-piece Lodestar Band, with arrangements by music-director Ian Kearey. This will be a special performance to celebrate Heart’s Ease and will be the first time the new record, released summer 2020, has been performed live.
A key figure in the folk revival movement of the 60s and 70s, she was instrumental in the research and archiving of folk songs that might otherwise have been lost to history. After retiring early from music with the loss of her singing voice, now in her 80s she has staged a comeback in recent years. Her latest recordings outline an artist regaining her former power.
This performance is subject to government guidelines.

Spaces for wheelchair users in row U at the rear of the stalls (up to sixteen, depth of row 180cm) and the back row of the circle (four), both with fold-down companion seats. Some seats in row S of the stalls for people with very limited mobility.
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs may be taken into the concert hall where there are a limited number of suitable seats in row G of the stalls. If you prefer, you may leave your dog with a member of the cloakroom staff during the performance.
Hearing facility
There is an induction loop in the concert hall. You can use this by adjusting your hearing aid to the ‘T’ setting.
