Shabaka and the Ancestors

The Ancestors standing in a bare room

Performing energetic, futurist jazz, including material from their new album We Are Sent Here By History.

Shabaka Hutchings’ collaboration with The Ancestors is the culmination of his regular visits to South Africa. The band venture deep into the spiritual jazz world, with diversions into township grooves, Caribbean rhythms and psychedelic reveries. The collective of musicians from across continents make perfect partners, with lithe sax floating over spiky brass interjections.

This concert will start at the advertised start time and running times will be confirmed closer to the event

This concert is subject to Government Guidance relating to Covid-19.

Produced by the Barbican.
