Moses Boyd – jazz drummer, composer, producer, bandleader and radio host performs tracks from his blistering debut solo record, alongside his creative collaborators.
Musical polymath, multi award-winning and Mercury Prize nominated, Moses Boyd delivered one of the best albums of the last year in Dark Matter. Boyd draws from a rich tapestry of influences – weaving together grime, Afrobeat, house, jungle and soca – all threaded throughout his overarching jazz foundations. He describes the results of this mix as ‘an extension of black music, the diaspora’. His polyrhythmic sound centres around swirling, fiercely propulsive drumming, alongside bursts of brass – this is unmistakably dance music.
A Tomorrow’s Warriors alumnus, he’s noted for his creative collaborations, working alongside Sampha, Kelsey Lu, Zara McFarlane and Sons of Kemet, and forms half of the duo Moses & Binker, alongside Binker Golding.
