Katherine Waterston and Vanessa Kirby look at each other

Katherine Waterston and Vanessa Kirby star in this romantic drama set against the bleak backdrop of the East Coast American frontier.

Somewhere along the mid-19th century American East Coast frontier, two neighbouring couples battle hardship and isolation, witnessed by a splendid yet testing landscape, challenging them both physically and psychologically.

A romance blossoms between the two women as they seek escapism from their surroundings and their spouses (Casey Affleck and Christopher Abbott), but even a passionate romance struggles to survive in a hostile environment.

With ravishing cinematography and set against a backdrop of rich forests and vast American landscape, director Mona Fastvold intertwines a beautiful love story with stunning visuals.
