Cristina Gómez Godoy (oboe)

ECHO Rising Stars

Cristina posing with her oboe

Composers often share their most profound secrets among small groups of friends – so this intimate chamber concert of neglected Romantic jewels should be fascinating.

Even more so when presented by one of Europe’s finest young oboists. At the age of just 21, Godoy was appointed principal coir anglais of the Staatskapelle Berlin, and her playing has been admired by Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle and Gustavo Dudamel – credentials that make her more than worthy of a place in the Europe-wide ECHO Rising Stars series.

She chooses to appear as first among equals alongside Sara Ferrández and Mario Häring in a programme championing some unfamiliar but vital Romantic voices, alongside a specially commissioned new work from the far-ranging imagination of young British composer Charlotte Bray.

The performance will finish at approximately 2pm.

Nominated by Palau de la Música - L'Auditori Barcelona.
