Donna Haraway: Story Telling for Earthly Survival

New Suns: A Feminist Literary Festival

Feminist thinker, writer and historian of science Donna Haraway shares her life, influences and ideas in this documentary film by director Fabrizio Terranova.

Haraway is best known for her groundbreaking work on gender, cyborgs, unconventional partnerships and post-colonialism – including the ground-breaking ‘A Cyborg Manifesto: Science, Technology, and Socialist-Feminism in the Late Twentieth Century’ (1985).

This documentary finds her playfully discussing topics as diverse as capitalism, science-fiction writing and the Anthropocene. These conversations — punctuated by images of artwork and quirky animation — have a casual and intimate feel, drawing the viewer in, and offering an essential and insightful glimpse into the thoughts of a major contemporary figure.

Film available on demand from Fri 5 Mar - Mon 8 Mar, only available to watch with a New Suns: A Feminist Literary Festival  ticket.
