Yuja Wang in recital

Yuja Wang close up portrait

A superbly-conceived and typically imaginative solo recital from Yuja Wang – one of the single most exciting pianists of our time.

Yuja Wang’s phenomenal technique is matched by boundless imagination and fantasy, meaning that whatever she plays is already halfway to the transcendent. This solo recital ranges from the timeless clarity of J S Bach to the visionary late-romanticism of Berg and Scriabin, and she has something unique to say in each of them.

The hype is justified. ‘Yuja Wang’s pianism inspires a sense of wonder’ wrote Seen and Heard International after her most recent Barbican recital, and Gramophone magazine gave her its 2019 Instrumental award, praising her 'pianistic colouring as well as intellectual agility'. But you decide: in a concert that frees her to be her dazzling musical self.

End-time to be announced nearer the event.

‘Her combination of technical ease, colouristic range and sheer power has always been remarkable, as has the sense that she is entirely at one with the instrument.‘
