Rebecca (12A)

Ben Wheatley directs Lily James and Armie Hammer in his thrilling adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's classic gothic novel.

A young newlywed, Mrs de Winter (Lily James), arrives at her husband's (Armie Hammer) gothic and eerie family estate where she meets the jealous and intimidating housekeeper, Mrs Danvers (Kristen Scott Thomas). Mrs de Winter soon realises that she is living in the shadow of her husband's first wife, Rebecca, who died mysteriously several years earlier.

Ben Wheatley (High-Rise, Free Fire) directs an brilliant cast in his adaptation of Rebecca. He is clear that although he re-watched all the previous adaptations of the novel, it's the source text that interests him the most and that "Rebecca has dark elements, and it has a psychological, haunting story within it, but it’s also about these two people in love. That was the main thing.” - Ben Wheatley, Empire
