Joker (15)

Part of Oscar Week 2020

Joaquin Phoenix as the joker in the streets of Gotham

Forever alone in a crowd, Joaquin Phoenix plays a chilling Joker, struggling to find his way in Gotham's fractured streets

Fresh from winning the Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival, Todd Phillips' Joker is an unnerving version of the iconic DC character that is unlike any other.

In world where streets are strewn with rubbish and society rejects him wherever he goes, Arthur Fleck (Phoenix) is endlessly mocked – a man brimming with pain and sadness. At this point in his life, the defeated Fleck begins his descent into becoming the Joker.

A jaw-dropping performance from Joaquin Phoenix and a cast of brilliant co-stars including Robert De Niro and Zazie Beetz.

Nominated for Best Picture.

Review

‘Bold, devastating and utterly beautiful, Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix have not just reimagined one of the most iconic villains in cinema history, but reimagined the comic book movie itself‘
