Budapest Festival Orchestra and Sir András Schiff

Beethoven Piano Concerto No 1

András Schiff close up

Fischer and his crack Budapest orchestra, famous for their virtuosity and exuberance, present a revelatory programme pairing Beethoven’s sunniest Piano Concerto with Dvořák’s autumnal Sixth Symphony.

And with Sir András Schiff at the keyboard, even the youthful Beethoven is likely to reveal some surprisingly profound depths. In the penultimate instalment of their concerto cycle, Fischer and his orchestra surround it with the ideal balance of light and shade, whether Dvořák’s colourful evocations of Slavic folklore or the symphony that he wrote in gloriously unbuttoned homage to Brahms.

End-time to be announced nearer the event.
