Step into a fantastical world to discover the origins of this highly acclaimed Russian theatre company which is now led by Egveny Pisarev. 

Through drama, poetry and song, the company revisits memories of their past performances and performers. 

In keeping with traditions set by their predecessors – the ‘Chamber Theatre’ actors trained by the legendary Alexander Tairov – today’s troupe are renowned for their unique acting style. Their flexible approach incorporates musical elements and poetic skills to create high dramatic tension and depth of feeling. They work successfully in a variety of genres and styles with a variety of directors - from the expressive style of Yury Nikolaevich Butusov and metaphysical theatre director Vladimir Mirzoyev to Declan Donnellan (Cheek by Jowl) and symbolist Sergei Zemlyansky

This unique event includes a post-show reception with the company. 

Performed in Russian with no subtitles.

The Pit is located on Level -2 within the main Barbican building and can be accessed via the stairs or lifts on Level G, next to the doors to the Lakeside Terrace.
