Weekend Lab: The Encounter

Image of Kirsty Housley

The way we tell a story is as important as the story we choose to tell. In this two-day workshop, Co-Director of The Encounter, Kirsty Housley will explore how to find the form in the narrative.

As a group, we will together interrogate how form and style can hold as much meaning as content, by focusing on the process Complicité uses to make work, rather than the product.

Working as the company does, the workshop will be movement and practice-based, taking in the games and exercises Complicité uses in the rehearsal room.

Kirsty is a director and writer. She co-directed The Encounter with Simon McBurney and was his Associate Director on Shun-kin. Kirsty has been the recipient of the Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust award and the Northern Stage Title Pending Award and is an associate of The Point and Theatre Uncut.

As part of the Lab, you will receive a ticket to the Saturday evening production of The Encounter at the Barbican on 21 April 2018.

This Lab is suitable for students, emerging or mid-career actors, directors and theatre-makers, ages 18+.
