Set in 1971, it tells the story of how Post editor Ben Bradee (Hanks) and publisher Katharine Graham (Streep) fought the law, the government — and in Graham’s case, open sexism — to publish key parts of the Pentagon Papers, which exposed the truth about US involvement in the Vietnam War.
Spielberg’s drama is a timely and gripping exploration of press freedom, political accountability and the cost of finding out the truth, with a fantastic supporting cast including Bob Odenkirk, Matthew Rhys, Sarah Paulson, Bradley Whitford and Alison Brie.
