Keren Ann with Debussy String Quartet

Keren Ann in a white jumper

Wrapping her acerbic meditations on love, life and loss in mellow arrangements, Keren Ann’s exquisite songwriting is bolstered by French string ensemble Debussy String Quartet.

Parisian Keren Ann is as eclectic as she is international, with shades of classic French Pop, crooning Jazz and the lilting Bossa Nova all revealing themselves in her music. Tonight, she revisits her songbook with Debussy String Quartet in arrangements written both by herself and renowned arrangers such as Maxim Moston, Eumir Deodato and Thorvaldur Thorvaldsson.

She’s a songwriter’s songwriter – the likes of David Byrne, Jane Birkin and more have all covered her songs. Over seven albums, Keren Ann has developed a sound imbued with melancholic longing, the type heard in the work of composers such as Chopin and Ravel – making Debussy String Quartet the perfect ensemble to tackle her oeuvre. Formed in 1990, they have appeared in major concert halls from New York to Tokyo, performing a wide range of works.
