Behzod Abduraimov plays the Liszt Sonata

A black & white picture of Behzod Abduraimov walking away from a piano

Behzod Abduraimov plays Liszt’s massive B minor Sonata and music by Prokofiev – an imposing showcase for one of our most talked-about young pianists.

Behzod Abduraimov is one of those pianists who leaves critics grasping for superlatives: ‘Abduraimov is phenomenal’ declared the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. It’ll be thrilling to hear him measure himself against Liszt’s mountainous B minor sonata, as well as Prokofiev’s Piano Sonata No 6.

It’ll be considerably more than that, though. ‘This young musician is evidently a seeker of substance and meaning beyond the surface of the works he is interpreting’ noted Bachtrack. There’s a compelling personality behind Abduraimov’s lightning fingers and effortless presence – and if any two works can give us some indication of where he’s heading as an artist, it’s these.
