LSO Family Concert

Celebrating Bernstein

Marin Alsop

Music is for everybody. That’s the message from Marin Alsop, who hosts this special family concert to celebrate Bernstein’s centenary.

Bernstein was the person who made Marin Alsop want to stand on the conductor’s podium. ‘Leonard Bernstein was a thinker, teacher, author, television star, provocateur, humanitarian – and he was my hero. Seeing Bernstein conduct a New York Philharmonic Young People’s Concert when I was nine years old convinced me that conducting was the only thing in the world that I wanted to do.’

So whether you’re a budding young baton-waver or you just want to bring the whole family to experience the LSO, this concert is for you! With music by the man himself, and a world-class conductor leading the way, celebrate 100 years of Leonard Bernstein at this autumn’s LSO Discovery Family Concert.
