LIAF 2017: The World of Tomorrow Episodes 1 and 2 + recorded intro by director Don Hertzfeldt (15*)

Part of LIAF 2017

A still from Don Hertzfeldt's The World of Tomorrow Episode Two

Delve into award-winning director Don Hertzfeldt's vision of the future in the two episodes of World of Tomorrow.

In 2015 Don Hertzfeldt‘s animated short World of Tomorrow built a complete vision of the future, investigated the terrors of technological advancement, and ruminated on the power and pitfalls of the human condition. His highly anticipated sequel World of Tomorrow Episode Two: The Burden of Other People’s Thoughts is every bit as stunning and heartbreaking as the first.

Here we find Emily Prime, a young girl, swept inside the brain of an incomplete back-up clone of her future self, who’s on a mission to reboot her broken mind. Both films were written entirely around candid audio recordings of Hertzfeldt’s 5 year-old niece.

This afternoon’s screening includes an all-new animated introduction recorded especially for the London International Animation Festival audience, plus some big surprises from Don’s back catalogue.
