Afro Celt Sound System

+ The Dhol Foundation

Afro Celt Soundsystem and their instruments

The ground-breaking European and African based collective – formed by producer Simon Emmerson –  perform music from new album The Source, their most ambitious record to date.

Described as a ‘colossus of an album’ by fRoots, The Source takes Afro Celt Sound Systems’s cross-cultural collaboration to another level – every bit as energetic and captivating live as it is on record. Opening the concert, the Dhol Foundation deliver a wall of sound, global rhythms and thumping contemporary beats, led by Johnny Kalsi, the UK’s most celebrated player of the Punjabi dhol drum.

Starting life as a collaboration with Baaba Maal, Afro Celt Sound System have since worked with Robert Plant, Sinead O’Connor and Peter Gabriel. Their line-up, and indeed their sound, is one that is constantly evolving – even if you’ve seen them before you’ll always be treated to something new.
