Now 90 years of age the venerable and venerated, Bahamaninan born Sidney Poitier is justly celebrated as one of the greatest screen actors in US history. His ground-breaking performances, particularly in the 1950s and 60's, changed Hollywood forever; he was the first black actor to win a Best Actor Academy Award (for 1965’s Lilies of The Field) and became a genuine movie star. He is also renowned not only as a performer but a film director, political activist and humanitarian.
