Toyin Ojih Odutola and Peter Adjaye

In Conversation

A drawing of a man and a woman, faces side by side, by Toyin Ojih Odutola

To coincide with her new Curve exhibition A Countervailing Theory, artist Toyin Ojih Odutola sits in conversation with conceptual sound artist Peter Adjaye

Exploring the epic narrative of an imagined myth, Ojih Odutola’s new installation reveals the story of an ancient civilisation in central Nigeria dominated by female rulers, challenging preconceived notions of history, culture, gender, sexuality, race, the natural environment and more. An immersive soundscape by Adjaye fills the gallery in response to the work. This special evening celebrates the opening of the exhibition, offering an insight into the artists’ process.

Ojih Odutola and Adjaye are joined by Independent Curator, Erin J. Gilbert.
