Regular Crisis: Cantata on the Global Economy

+ Introduction and panel discussion

Regular Crisis

A thought-provoking and powerful film by video and performance artist Marina Landia, soundtracked by Kristjan Järvi, which explores the concept of crisis as a normal state of affairs.

In 2008, the world was turned upside down by economic events that had a huge global impact. This impact is still felt today and Marina Landia’s work investigates and explores various phenomena and changes in the Western economic system and their social consequences.

This screening and the following discussion is chaired by economist and former Treasury advisor Diane Coyle, and explores the state of mind of people in leadership, in today’s uncertain times. Including interviews with influential players in the global economy, such as Steve Forbes (editor-in-chief, Forbes), and Secretary General of OECD Angel Gurria amongst others, the film is a potent artistic reflection on the mindsets and philosophies propping up the global economy.

With a soundscape curated by conductor Kristjan Järvi, featuring works by Dutch pianist and composer Louis Andriessen, The National’s Bryce Dessner, Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood, and Järvi himself, this promises to be a challenging, inspirational evening.
