Elisabeth Leonskaja In Recital

Elisabeth Leonskaja

World renowned Russian-Austrian pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja brings her dazzling technical prowess and exceptional musicality to the Barbican Hall for the first time in over a decade.

Described by The Guardian as possessing 'innate pianism, with musical sensibilities and a daring honed by a lifetime of experience', Leonskaja will perform three piano sonatas in full, by Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert – showcasing these composers’ mastery of the sonata form.

Elisabeth Leonskaja was born in Tbilisi, and has gone on to become one of the most celebrated pianists of her generation. While still a student at the Moscow Conservatory, she won prizes at major international piano competitions, including the Enescu Prize, the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition and the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium Prize. She credits her musical development in part to her collaboration and friendship with Sviatoslav Richter.

Produced by the Barbican.
